Root Cause will be driven by a commitment to fostering sustainable agricultural resilience amongst India’s underserved farming communities. The aim is to bridge the gap between expensive, high-tech soil management solutions and the reality of smallholder farming by prioritizing accessibility, affordability, and ecological balance. Additionally, the initiative will empower farmers with low-cost, effective technology and actionable insights, to ensure that they will be equipped to improve their crop productivity in the long run.
At Root Cause, we will work towards this goal by combining five core efforts. First, the objective would be to conduct a community-driven needs assessment survey that will identify the specific challenges and indigenous methodologies of local farming practices. This would be followed by our knowledge dissemination steps, including a podcast about sustainable agricultural solutions and technological innovation and expert-led workshops for the farmers to make them aware about healthy soil management practices. The eventual goal is to also provide the farmers with an affordable, non-destructive tool in the form of a capacitive sensor probe and support its community-led maintenance through a crowdfunding campaign.
